Post Consumer Plastic Processing
We collect and process post-consumer plastics that often escape sanitation, or are rejected from large scale recycling facilities. We utilize innovative, truly zero-waste methods to sort, clean, shred and process plastics #2, #4, #5, and #7 (PLA). We partner with local businesses and organizations to develop useful, sustainable products.

Community Collection Points
We establish targeted collection points for #2 and #5 caps, lids, and prescription medication bottles, and PLA 3D printer scraps. We teach simple systems for sorting, storage, and processing.

About

Our Story
Re:Create Brooklyn was founded in April 2024 by Elisabeth Cernadas, a Brooklyn-based artist, educator, and sustainability advocate, as Trash Club Brooklyn, a family-friendly cleanup and climate action group focused on NYC parks and shorelines without recycling services.
Following the trail of plastic pollution led Elisabeth into the world of DIY, small-scale recycling. By tracing where plastic actually goes (and where it doesn’t), she discovered the power of small-scale, community-driven recycling — a way to transform so-called “unrecyclable” plastics locally, transparently, and creatively.
Re:Create Brooklyn partners with local businesses, schools, city agencies, and corporations to collect and process “unrecyclable” plastics, transforming them into durable, functional products through truly circular, small-scale manufacturing..
We are proud to serve as the home of the Precious Plastic Brooklyn Community Point.
